We were feeling inspired by Madewell’s Perfect Chambray Ex-Boyfriend Shirt ($69.50) and styled it a couple different ways over on Polyvore. It turns out chambray’s a bit of a fashion workhorse – you can wear it any way you like, just as you would your favorite denim. We also love wearing it as a layer, open over an ornate, embellished tank for something a little unexpected. But don’t forget it can also pull its weight at the office.

The classic look that never goes out of style is the chambray shirt with white hot denim. We can’t get enough of this look, and for good reason: it’s polished, put together, and works for just about everyone. The key here is to amp up your accessories – belts, heels, jewelry and outerwear – so you don’t look like just another face in the crowd.

It’s getting a little too chilly for those miniskirts, so pair your chambray shirt with a maxi skirt instead. Better yet, take advantage of the tiered trend with something that falls a little shorter in front and a little longer in back.
